Our name Jamu ~ Jamu is taken from the time-honoured Javanese medicinal remedies and tonics, created from fresh blended ingredients, which are sold everyday on the streets of Indonesia.
Capturing the life force of indigenous plants, flowers, roots, barks, herbs, fruits and spices, this holistic therapy for inner and outer beauty is derived from the science of Asian Homeopathy and Aromatherapy enhanced by Chinese, Arabic and Ayurvedic influences.
Eluding the theories and logic of modern medicine, Indonesian jamu is a traditional healthcare system, sometimes known for curing even the so-called “incurable” diseases. Dating back to the 9th century, jamu was made on a daily basis by the women of each village household; and the secrets of these healing recipes for beauty, vitality and health have been passed down through the generations from mother to daughter.
At Jamu-Jamu™, we believe in the sacredness of this Earth. Our mission is to care for the fragile world in which we live, to keep alive the ancient traditions of herbal medicines and remedies, and to preserve the beautiful mystery of nature. We also recognize the need to positively contribute to the local and national communities in which we operate.
The connection to our values is on our very own doorstep. Instead of mourning vanishing plant life, we are committed to the preservation of the wild herbs and healing plants of Indonesia that are in danger of disappearing. We live in a country where, for centuries, traditional knowledge has been passed down from father to son and mother to daughter and is always only a generation away from extinction.
Furthermore, the Indonesia archipelago lies within the wet tropical zones of this planet, home to vast areas of rainforest together with countless unique species. When the forests are logged, cleared and burned, the local people cease collecting medicinal herbs and soon begin to forget the healing properties – and even the existence – of these plants.
